Meet Dr. Sue
I am a pediatrician by training and a Mom by heart. I grew up splitting time between the greater Washington DC area and the Shenandoah Valley. I received my undergraduate degree (in nothing related to medicine!) from UVA, then after some years tinkering as an animator and special effects artist I decided to become a doctor. I attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA for medical school and pediatrics residency. I spent 6 years working on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in a rural, underserved community prior to moving back to Charlottesville. Since returning to C’ville, I worked for a year with Pediatric Associates of Charlottesville, then spent 2 years with UVA’s Orange Pediatrics practice. I remain on faculty with UVA in Integrative Medicine and Breastfeeding Medicine. Dr. Sue Pediatrics is my passion project, and I am excited to offer an alternative model of pediatric care in our amazing community.
During my years of practice, I have earned additional certifications as an international board certified lactation consultant and as a fellowship-trained pediatric integrative medicine specialist. I have great passion for helping new parents adjust to life with a newborn. Holistic preventive care is the cornerstone of my style, and I aim to help keep my families healthy from the get go. I also have a zeal for creatively managing pediatric mental health problems with both medication and non-medication approaches.
I met my husband, Brad, in medical school. Together we have 4 sweet kids who are the loves of our lives (coincidentally, you will meet them all over my website…). We can frequently be seen in and around C’ville hiking, biking, scootering, and dining.
